Here in the Northwest, seeing the sky isn't always a given.  Our often overcast days and nights make us appreciate a beautiful, clear evening sky and the accompanying sunset even more (Sound Sunset I and Sound Sunset II).  Even more rare are the nights when our skies are not only clear, but the atmospheric conditions are right to allow us the see the edge of the Northern Lights.  When this happens, they appear just above the horizon rather than across the full height of the sky  (Sound Skies - Northern Lights, image to appear).
